Semaglutide
Semaglutide is a medication primarily used to treat type 2 diabetes and obesity. It belongs to a class of drugs called GLP-1 receptor agonists, which mimic the action of the glucagon-like peptide-1 hormone. This helps regulate blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin release, slowing gastric emptying, and reducing appetite
Mechanism of action
Enhances insulin secretion in response to meals
Suppresses glucagon release, reducing blood sugar
Slows digestion, increasing satiety and reducing food intake
